How To Make an Origami Cat!- Kyra Hau
October is coming up soon, so you know what that means? Halloween! With Halloween right around the corner, it is best to get into spirit. You can do that not only by dressing up and decorating your house, but also by learning something as small as making an origami cat. Here is an easy tutorial on how to make an origami cat.
Before we get started, the only material you will need for sure is a square-shaped piece of paper. For more of a Halloween aesthetic, black paper would be preferable, but feel free to use whatever color paper you like. The paper in the pictures below will be scratch paper.
If you don’t have a square-shaped piece of paper, you can easily make one using a regular 8x11 sheet. Just fold it diagonally until the edges line up and then cut or tear off the bottom
Take your paper and fold it diagonally, then unfold it. If you made a square-shaped piece of paper from a regular sheet of paper, you can skip this step since your paper will already be folded that way.
Take 2 opposite corners and fold them into the center line so they touch. Your paper should look like a diamond
Take the top of the paper (the long side) and bring it down so the tip touches the one on the bottom.
Take the side corners and fold them so they touch the edges of the fold in the middle.
Unfold the center piece.
Fold the bottom piece in so the tip touches the straight line
Fold this corner as shown. Then unfold
Turn the paper, fold in on both sides, and crease as shown
Fold both small corners into the center line
Fold the top corner up
Fold both side as shown
Fold as shown on both sides
Fold the bottom sides in as if folding a paper airplane
Fold the whole thing vertically
Fold the head (top part) in as shown
Fold the back part down as shown (both sides). This is the cat’s tail
Fold the tail in half
Fold the tail up
Fold both sides into each other. Then admire your cat from the front
